Automotive : Chassis Systems : Electronic Stabilty Program (ESP)
|
The ESP is a safety system that controls the dynamic vehicle motion in emergency situations by controlled braking of individual wheels to make the vehicle motion approach the motion intended by the driver.
It uses signals to discern the driver's intention, such as steering wheel angle and torque, brake pressure and engine torque, and signals to derive the actual motion of the vehicle, which is angular velocity of the car around its vertical axis and lateral acceleration.
Melexis supplies both Hall effect and optical sensors for fast and accurate measurement of the steering angle and applied steering torque. |
