The Hall Effect Switch
How Does It Work?
The Hall effect switch is a digital semiconductor switch that changes state in the presence of a magnetic field. The switch is normally OFF (not conducting). When a magnetic field of sufficient strength and polarity is brought near the switch it will change its state, turn ON and conduct. The switch points are accurate and repeatable. Press the START button below to see how it works. Melexis offers a broad range of fixed Hall effect switches as well as a fully programmable product.
