The Hall Effect Latch
How Does It Work?
The Hall effect latch is a digital semiconductor device that is activated in the presence of a magnetic field. The device is normally OFF (not conducting). When a magnetic field of sufficient strength and appropriate polarity is brought near the device it will change its state, turn ON and conduct. It will "latch" ON until a magnetic field of sufficient strength of the OPPOSITE polarity is brought near the device. The switch points are accurate and repeatable. Press the START button below to see how it works. Melexis offers a broad range of Hall effect latches. For more information please contact your authorized Melexis Representative.
