Melexis and SevNTU inaugurate a joint research educational laboratory.

Melexis, a leading Belgian manufacturer of automotive semiconductor integrated circuits (ICs), launches its sponsorship of a laboratory in the Radio-Frequency department of the Radio Electronic faculty of the National Technical University of Sevastopol ”SevNTU”.
This laboratory will be instrumental for preparing SevNTU students with critical skills for Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits design techniques. They will have access to a fully refurbished lab space inside SevNTU with modern computer infrastructure. All students with lab coursework will learn the usage of cutting edge software tools for the design of ICs. This curriculum will require 2 years of study.
The Rector of the SevNTU, Mr. Pashkov and the 1st Secretary of the Belgian embassy in Kiev, Mr Develter inaugurated this laboratory today.
Melexis began operations in Ukraine in 2000 and today employs more than 70 people in Kiev. Melexis has plans to increase its technical staff designing Radio-Frequency Integrated Circuits and expects to recruit the future engineers educated in this laboratory.
Jacques De Jonghe, site manager of Melexis-Ukraina, explained that the sustained growth of ICs in automotive, industrial and consumer markets requires highly qualified engineers. The laboratory that is inaugurated today will allow students to acquire the right skills to design Integrated Circuits, especially for radio-frequency applications.
Youriy Gimpelevitvh, head of SevNTU Radio-Frequency department, outlined the experience of his department in training students in radio-frequency design techniques. This experience is being translated today in the opening of this research educational laboratory, where future specialists will be trained using the most advanced Integrated Circuits computer aided design tools.
