Melexis is a long time market leader in embedded microcontrollers for DC motor drive applications like anti-pinch window lift systems. Embedded MCU's with high temperature grade Flash and OTP ensure flexible implementation of dedicated diagnostics schemes and communication protocols from PWM to any LIN standard.

Additionally to meet the requests for material savings and environmental requirements, existing ON/OFF controlled DC motors like fuel pumps, or resistive controlled DC motors like blowers and engine cooling fans are now controlled using more efficient PWM schemes including high side FET and shunt control capability.

The Melexis devices control, diagnose and protect a reversible DC motor application using only simple power NMOSFETs. All standard automotive protections are integrated to plug the device directly on to the 12V board net, including over-voltage, short circuit and load dump (40V) protection. The integrated MOSFET gate-driver and FET monitoring circuits on one chip make additional FET predriving circuits unnecessary and reduces significantly the systems BOM.
