Your future job

As a Purchasing Manager, you will provide vision and leadership to the Purchasing department, a ‘young’ department, where the team of 7 people joined throughout the last 3 years. In partnership with the business, you determine and implement the Purchasing strategy to ensure delivery of goods and services throughout the departments, plants and business units, at optimum cost of ownership. Being a global company, our Purchasing department is interacting with worldwide suppliers, strongly linked with the automotive sector.  You will report to the Global Operations Manager. Your responsibilities:

Purchasing strategy (for direct and indirect spend), policies and processes

  • You determine and/or implement purchasing strategies and policies and you monitor their implementation in the organisation
  • You monitor the purchasing administration processes and you optimize change processes within the organization to contribute to continuous improvement in the Purchasing department

Supplier selection and Supplier Account Management

  • In close cooperation with other teams (e.g. Business Unit, Development, Quality, Operations, Finance,…), you drive, manage and/or execute supplier selection processes
  • Lead, supervise and/or execute all aspects (e.g. contract negotiations, price negotiations, claims management,…) of managing (new and existing) supplier accounts. Build and/or maintain long-term relationships with (existing and/or new) suppliers and related stakeholders.

People management

  • You attract, develop & coach your people and you create the appropriate work climate
  • You stimulate your team members to have ownership of their careers and you motivate them to learn and to grow
  • You manage your team, selecting the right priorities and objectives, and by evaluating and leveling their performance

Value for money

  • Communicate and partner with internal stakeholders around purchasing values and approaches, to create awareness about the value of money spent throughout the organization
  • You perform spend analyses and monitor price-evolutions and discuss them with the relevant stakeholders, to anticipate impact on the company and if needed create cost-reduction road maps
  • You take part in the annual budget process for Global Operations


Your profile

  • You have 10 years of international experience in the domain of Purchasing / Supply chain and you have been working as people manager for several years
  • Strong analytical mind
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Coaching skills and eye to develop your team
  • Networker with internal and external stakeholders
  • Team player within the organisation and with the own team to ensure good collaboration
  • Fluent in English
  • Willing to travel
