Master Thesis_Graphene-based biosensors - Bevaix, Switzerland
As an intern at Melexis, you will contribute to the design and development of a new electronic sensing device for biomedical applications.
More specifically, you will:
Perform electrical characterization studies to assess the performance of the devices (noise, drift, hysteresis) before and after chemical functionalization.
Propose and carry out chemical surface functionalization protocols for the detection of biomolecules and perform biosensing experiments to assess the response and limit of detection of the devices for the targeted analytes.
Propose innovative ideas to improve the device performances (device actuation method and signal processing).
Participate in the development of the characterization and microfluidic setup (assembly of the silicon die with a microfluidic cell, timed liquid delivery onto the sensor surface) and its integration into a portable demonstrator device.
Alternatively, characterize the magnetic response of the devices (Hall sensors).
Experimental report of the device variability and electrical parameters spread within and between fabrication batch(es)
Demonstration and characterization of a specific biosensing response towards at least one analyte
- Completed Bachelor in microtechnology, biophysics or bioengineering
- Experience with conducting electrical characterization of sensors and data analysis
- Experience with biochemical surface functionalization for sensing applications is a plus
