Master thesis/Internship - Tactile Sensors For Robotics: Integration and Algorithm - Bevaix, Switzerland
As an intern at Melexis, you will investigate the performances of a novel magnetic force sensor for manipulation and grasping and develop its integration in a robotic environment.
More specifically, you will:
Review the literature on tactile sensors and robotic manipulation.
Survey the sensor technologies in use (magnetic, capacitive, optical…).
Create a ROS (Robot Operating Software) environment for the sensor and a user-friendly software library.
Improve the algorithm to measure the force based on machine learning techniques.
Perform slip detection experiments.
Development of a software environment (ROS + simple library) to diffuse the technology to potential customers
A report on the different approaches to compute the force based on the raw signal
Possible participation in a robotic conference or tradeshow
A live demonstration of the sensor integrated in a robotic arm
- Familiarity with integrated sensors
- Data analysis skills (ideally in Python)
- Knowledge in ROS and experience in software development
- Previous experience in robotic manipulation
