Your future job

As a global market leader in sensing & driving solutions, targeted for Automotive as well as Adjacent markets, Melexis is continuously expanding in applications that require semiconductor solutions with high levels of integration/miniaturisation and value-add. As batteries are a fundamental part of the future E-mobility, but also for ESS (Energy Storage Systems), the charge acceptance beyond 5C (full charge in <12 minutes) and transient charge acceptance are key, but should come without the penalty of cell degradation. Melexis has IP in this field that requires a lead engineer leveraging a strong background in Li-ion electrochemistry with a double focus: an internal focus to develop and validate the new concepts, as well as an outward focus, to forge strategic alliances with partners & industry experts in the value chain - possibly under EU funding.

As a Battery Cell Management Expert, you will:

  • Develop demonstrators of new confidential concepts spearheading the industry
  • Translating academic experience into product development advancing the TRL (Technology Readiness Level)
  • Collaborate with external industry and research partners to introduce new technologies and develop early business opportunities supported by the Melexis marketing managers - advancing the CRL (Commercial Readiness Level)
  • Develop new IP and drive the patent filing process with the Melexis IP team
  • Lead or strongly contribute to the entire process from ideation to prototype validation and product definition - with further career opportunities in the same field in the product development, the business unit or new R&D topics in development engineering or innovation teams.

Your profile

  • You have a PhD in the field of Li-ion battery cell technology
  • Industry experience is a plus, but not a must
  • You have experience in electrochemical characterization methods (e.g. electrical impedance spectroscopy [EIS], cyclic voltammetry [CV], …)
  • You have a thorough understanding of electrical engineering (circuit design)
  • You are familiar with public funding proposals and budgeting (time, effort, financial)
  • You are passionate about Li-ion electrochemistry

We offer

  • A challenging job in a dynamic high-tech international environment
  • The opportunity to take ownership of your professional passion in order to contribute to the success of the company
  • An enjoyable, team-oriented and professional atmosphere in a flat-structured organization
  • Versatile development opportunities
