Project Description

As part of our dedication to advancing technology, Melexis is heavily invested in the RISC-V architecture, an open-source instruction set architecture (ISA) that has gained significant momentum in recent years. However, as a leading automotive supplier, Melexis has unique performance, safety, and cost requirements towards the technology we integrate into our products.

Several RISC-V implementations are available on the market today, differing widely in terms of area, performance, and licensing terms, but also in error-detection features, availability of hardware acceleration modules, and debugging support. Our goal is to evaluate and compare them in order to select one or more implementations that fit our current and future processing needs.

This role will give you hands-on experience in benchmarking, performance analysis, and architectural evaluation of these processors.

Expected results

  • A comprehensive review of the state of the art in terms of RISC-V implementation according to the full spectrum of Melexis needs, from single-thread performance to fitness for industrialization.
