Project Description

Several of Melexis recently developed magnetic position sensors are proposing interfaces based on typical serial protocols such as SPI or I2C. In order to verify the functionality and performance of our devices, it is necessary to implement the required hardware and software interfaces with several setups. As an intern at Melexis, you will work with the magnetic position sensor product verification team to implement a new serial protocol characterization interface that is easily portable for different products and setups.

More specifically, you will:

• Based on high-level requirements, evaluate options for the possible hardware and software platforms (off-the-shelf logic patterns analyzer/generator, NI PXI HSDIO, FPGA, etc…).

• Implement and document the desired interfaces for the chosen platform(s).

• Develop a solution for automatic validation report generation.

• Demonstrate the usage and performance of the implemented solution with an existing Melexis product.

Expected results

• Benchmark of considered solutions

• Low-level (drivers) and high-level layers (protocol codec) for the chosen solution

• User manual

• Validation report of the implemented solution using an existing Melexis product

Requirements

• Above anything else, we are looking for somebody who is passionate and loves to go look “under the hood” to understand how things are working. Tinkerers welcome!

• Electrical or micro-technology engineering cursus

• Prior experience with Python and Labview
