Product description

The MLX90296 is a family of micropower linear Hall-effect sensors (bidirectional or unidirectional) featuring a ratiometric analog output. Engineered specifically for battery-powered applications and mobile devices, this device combines fast contactless linear motion measurement with low power consumption.

The MLX90296 delivers a precise output voltage proportional to the magnetic flux density and supply voltage. Its digitally-assisted architecture ensures stability, allowing for seamless control over output saturation, offset, and noise. A moving average filter option is available to further smooth the output voltage in applications working at lower magnetic field frequencies.

The device operates at a wide range of voltage levels from 1.65 V to 3.6 V and consumes 2 mA in continuous operation mode. The dedicated enable pin drops power down to a negligible 7 nA and sets, whilst putting the output in a high impedance state for easy analog multiplexing

Delivered in a micropower DFN-4L package, the MLX90296 offers the right balance of size and manufacturability. Its 1.2 x 1.6 x 0.4 mm3 form factor is ideal for modern, high-density PCBs found in hearables and smart triggers, while the standard lead pitch ensures robust, cost-effective assembly.

Application examples:

  • Linear Position
    • Trigger buttons
    • Push buttons
    • Liquid levels
    • Weight & Tilt
  • Mobile/Battery-Powered IoT
  • Joystick & Rotary Position
  • Flow Metering
