Development Engineer - Tessenderlo-Ham, Belgium

Your future job

As a Development Engineer in the Battery Systems Interest Area (SIA) team, you will belong to the Business Innovation Automotive group and will be responsible for ensuring the feasibility of new innovative product ideas related to battery monitoring and their development into viable products. This involves hands-on work in the lab, including battery cell characterization, PCB design and debugging, and developing customer demonstrators. The role requires agility to move between different innovative projects and experiments, and the ability to validate product concepts to meet customer needs and market demands.  

More specifically, you will:

  •  Perform laboratory measurements on various battery chemistries 
  • Characterize multiple battery cells using Melexis proprietary techniques.  
  • Analyze data and report in the SIA Battery team.  
  • Develop and validate customer demonstrators.  
  • Design and debug PCBs.  
  • Co-develop and test Melexis BMS reference design.  
  • Investigate and optimize the thermal performance of the reference design.

Your profile

  • Master's degree with a strong electrical background.  
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical design
  • Knowledge of battery systems is a plus
  • Strong electrical design background with PCB design and debugging abilities.  
  • Hands-on lab experience and ability to work independently.  
  • Basic programming skills (e.g., Python or LabVIEW).  
  • Good communication skills and a team player.  
  • Ability to tackle problems and turn them into solutions. 
  • Open to innovation, ability to think out of the box and to deal with uncertainty
