We are seeking a Prevention Advisor (Level 2) / EHS Coordinator to uphold and advance our rigorous commitments to environmental responsibility and occupational safety at our facility in Ypres.
Acting as a cornerstone for our health, safety, and environmental initiatives, you will collaborate closely with the global ESG team alongside local management. This dual-focused role requires you to design and implement effective EHS strategies that safeguard our workforce and the surrounding environment while maintaining strict compliance with Belgian legal frameworks.
Key Responibilities :
Prevention Advisor (level 2)
- Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and accident investigations; propose concrete preventative and corrective measures.
- Advise on and evaluate the safety of new machinery, equipment, and work processes (applying the statutory three-key procedure for procurement, delivery, and commissioning).
- Maintain and develop internal safety policies and emergency response plans; draft, execute, and monitor the statutory Global Prevention Plan (GPP) and Yearly Action Plan (JAP) in line with the Belgian welfare regulations (Welzijnswet)
- Actively contribute to and prepare documentation for the CPBW / CPPT (Committee for Prevention and Protection at Work) meetings.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across the site through safety training, toolboxes, and engagement campaigns.
Environmental Coordinator (Type B):
- Manage site environmental permits and documents, ensuring ongoing compliance with Flemish environmental regulations (art. 4.1.9.1.3 VLAREM II).
- Monitor, analyze, and report on site environmental metrics (waste management, energy, water, emissions) and collect this data from other sites to ensure a correct reporting to the ESG team
- Coordinate local ISO 14001 certification and internal environmental audits and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support corporate ESG goals and decarbonization roadmaps.
- Serve as the primary contact person for external environmental authorities and auditors.
Your profile
- Certified Prevention Advisor Level 2 (Preventieadviseur Niveau 2).
- Certified Environmental Coordinator Type B (Milieucoördinator Type B).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an EHS role, ideally within an industrial, manufacturing, or high-tech environment.
- Strong knowledge of Belgian/Flemish EHS and welfare legislation.
- Knowledge of relevant Management Systems standards (such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001) is a plus
- The ability to translate complex regulations into workable, everyday solutions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage colleagues at all levels.
- Fluent in Dutch and English (written and spoken).
