Werkstudent (w/m/d) Softwareentwicklung - Erfurt, Germany
Your future job
As a Working Student (f/m/d) in Test Solution Development at Melexis GmbH, you will actively support our engineering team in making semiconductor testing smarter and faster. Your focus combines two exciting areas: developing Python tools to automate and streamline our daily engineering workflows, and developing embedded software executed directly on our integrated circuits (ICs). By implementing on-chip functional tests and utilizing on-chip peripherals (such as internal ADCs) for self-measurement, you will help replace conventional Automated Test Equipment (ATE) tests with faster, next-generation production test methods. The exact topics and work packages will be aligned on demand together with your mentor, matching current team needs with your skills and learning goals.
More specifically, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain Python tools and scripts to automate test engineering workflows, data analysis, and reporting to increase team efficiency
- Develop embedded software (C/C++) for Melexis ICs to execute functional device tests directly on-chip
- Implement on-chip measurement routines (e.g., using the internal on-chip ADC to measure electrical parameters) in order to replace existing ATE tests with faster production test solutions
- Verify, debug, and benchmark on-chip test implementations in comparison to existing ATE measurements
- Document developed software tools, embedded test routines, and validation results for internal stakeholders
Your profile
- Enrolled student (Bachelor's or Master's) in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable technical field
- Good basic programming skills in Python and an interest in workflow automation or data processing
- Foundational knowledge in C/C++ and the motivation to learn how to apply it effectively on embedded systems and microcontrollers (e.g., using on-chip ADCs)
- Basic knowledge of and interest in electronics, integrated circuits (ICs), and electrical test methods
- Curiosity, eagerness to learn on the job, and a structured approach to solving problems
- Effective communication skills in English
We offer
- A challenging working student position in a dynamic high-tech international environment
- Flexible working hours that can be easily combined with your university schedule (plus opportunities for a subsequent Bachelor's or Master's thesis)
- The opportunity to take ownership of your projects and directly contribute to faster production testing at Melexis
- An enjoyable, team-oriented, and professional atmosphere in a flat-structured organization
- Versatile professional and personal development opportunities
Please note that this is a fully on-site role based in Erfurt. Regular physical presence at our local premises is mandatory.
