Product description
The MLX81132 is a programmable 24-channel MeLiBu® LED driver developed for high-pixel-count animated interior lighting. Combining high channel density, local processing, and 10BASE-T1S-Endpoint support, this new IC helps OEMs to scale sophisticated RGB lighting while significantly reducing the lowest cost per pixel across applications like dashboards, doors, and center consoles.
Unlike traditional smart LED architectures that integrate driver electronics into every pixel, our product shares processing and driver functionality across multiple pixels to offer better performance (speed/latency down to 2ms with no communication delay) at a lower BoM. The MLX81132 supports all car architectures, from compact local modules to increasingly centralized, zonal, software-defined vehicle (SDV) architectures.
It features 24 constant-current LED channels supporting up to 80 mA, and with 2x multiplexing, a single IC can control up to 48 individual LEDs or 16 RGB pixels. At its core is a 16-bit RISC MCU with 64 KB Flash and 8 KB RAM, handling pixel control and color calculations close to the LEDs.
Support and Programming: The device is programmed via the MeLiBu® 2 protocol, with differential auto-addressing supported for easy end-of-line (EOL) production configuration. Calibration data can be stored locally in the integrated NVM.
