Project description

As an intern in the motor driver development team, you will create an accurate MATLAB or Verilog A model of a  motor load and use it to simulate a motor driver schematic and all its effects.

More specifically, you will

  • Create an accurate motor model in MATLAB or Verilog A including BEMF (Back Electro Magnetic Force) effects and variable load characteristics.
  • Implement the created model inside a provided motor driver schematic to qualify the effects on voltage  spikes, sensing noise, etc.
  • Compare the simulated results with real motor measurements and use that data to optimize the model

Project goals

After the internship the student will have created a functional model of a motor that can be used in the design of a  motor driver IC to simulate all parasitic effects implied by a real motor on the system.

Your profile

  • Electrical engineering students in the first master year with specialization IC chip design or equivalent.

Duration & Location

  • 4 - 6 weeks
