Internal Controller - Sofia, Bulgaria

Are you passionate about strengthening governance and driving control excellence? We're looking for an experienced Internal Controller to join our Global Finance team in Sofia and play a key role in the Second Line of Defense (SLoD). This is a strategic position that ensures the integrity and effectiveness of our internal control environment across all business functions globally.

More specifically, you will:

  • Design, implement, and oversee the internal control framework as part of the SLoD.
  • Monitor control effectiveness and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Collaborate with first-line teams to provide independent oversight, support, and challenge on risk and control matters.
  • Conduct control assessments, gap analyses, and oversee remediation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and control documentation.
  • Act as a liaison between the business (1LoD) and internal audit (3LoD).

Your profile

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Audit, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in internal control, risk management, or internal/external audit.
  • Solid understanding of internal control frameworks, risk management principles, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with the Three Lines of Defense (3LoD) model will be considered a strong plus.
  • Previous experience in GL accounting will be considered a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, to engage and influence stakeholders across functions and levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, optimize processes, and navigate complex organizational structures.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, international, and multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in office productivity tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and ERP systems. Experience with Oracle will be considered a plus. 
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential.
