Process & Equipment Engineering Manager - Kuching, Malaysia

Your future job

As a Process and Equipment Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimising the full lifecycle of processes and equipment. You need to be aligned with the company’s strategy and long-term objectives, define and drive the vision for managing processes and equipment from release to end-of-life. The focus is on ensuring quality, reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness to meet both internal business needs and external customer expectations.

More specifically, you will:

  • Develop and implement a vision for process and equipment management in line with Melexis’ overall strategy.
  • Plan, organise, and oversee team activities to ensure efficient and high-quality engineering results.
  • Attract, develop, manage, coach, motivate, and evaluate team members while fostering a positive and effective work climate.
  • Manage all people and organisational processes (e.g. workforce planning, performance management).
  • Continuously assess and optimise organisational structure and resource allocation.
  • Own the equipment budget and ensure cost-effective performance.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with external providers to leverage state-of-the-art technologies and resources.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication across relevant departments.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to secure resources and support for industrialisation initiatives.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing process development or related fields.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to coach, motivate, and remove obstacles for effective teamwork.
  • Solid knowledge of global manufacturing processes, especially automotive standards (GM, Ford, DC systems).
  • Expertise in semiconductor back-end manufacturing equipment and cost of ownership models.
  • Hands-on experience in process mapping, risk and gap analysis, and process improvement.
  • Strong understanding of process control techniques.
  • Skilled in project planning, budgeting, and monitoring.
  • Experienced in supplier and subcontractor negotiations, working closely with procurement.
  • Financially savvy, able to analyse process costs and identify optimisation opportunities.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Team player with a result-driven attitude and genuine curiosity.
  • Leadership experience is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel to other sites.
