Your future job

As a Senior Application Engineer for our Battery products, you will be the vital bridge between our cutting-edge silicon and our customers' end applications (such as Battery Management Systems for: EV, energy storage, and industrial packs).
You will leverage our understanding of battery management architectures to champion our unique innovations, demonstrating how they translate into tangible system-level benefits. Beyond advocating for the technology, you will take ownership of the software ecosystem by developing the essential low-level drivers, evaluation GUIs, and example code required to bring the hardware to life. Finally, you will support in providing hardware guidance to help customers successfully integrate the chip.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Evaluation Tools: Develop Python scripts and GUI applications (C#, Python, or similar) to allow customers to easily evaluate our product.
  • Customer Design-In Support: Act as the premier technical authority for Tier 1 and Tier 2 customers, guiding them through hardware integration, software driver implementation, and system-level debugging of their Battery Management Systems (BMS).
  • Software & Ecosystem Development: Architect and write bare-metal and RTOS-based Embedded C code (drivers, reference libraries) for host microcontrollers interfacing with our sensors.
  • Lab Validation & Troubleshooting: Replicate customer issues in the lab. Utilize oscilloscopes, logic analysers and battery emulators to debug complex mixed-signal systems at the PCB and firmware level.
  • Technical Collateral: Author high-quality Application Notes, Reference Design manuals, and software integration guides to scale our global technical support.
  • Product Definition: Act as the "voice of the customer." Translate field feedback into actionable requirements for our IC design and systems teams to define the next generation of Melexis battery sensors.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and training to Field Application Engineers (FAEs) and other team members.

Your profile

  • Education: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Application Engineering, Firmware Engineering, or Systems Engineering within the semiconductor or power electronics industry.
  • Software Mastery:

-Proficiency in Embedded C for microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex-M).

- Basic skills in Python for lab automation, data analysis, and scripting.

- Experience developing GUIs for hardware evaluation is a plus.

  • Hardware & System Knowledge:
    Solid understanding of low-level communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN).
    Knowledge of Battery Management Systems (BMS), Li-ion battery behaviour, and high-voltage isolation will be a plus
    Strong grasp of mixed-signal fundamentals (ADCs, current/voltage sensing, noise mitigation).
    Ability to read schematics and review PCB layouts to advise on signal integrity.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities in the lab (hands on mindset), strong customer-facing communication skills, Self-driven, fluent English (written and spoken), adaptability and agility, Willingness to travel (20% of the time)
