Internship: Design of a magneto-elastic torque sensor for a robotic actuator - Bevaix, Switzerland
Location: Bevaix (NE) – EPFL (VD) - 4 to 6 months
Your future job
As an intern at Melexis, you will support the developing and characterization of a torque transducer based on magnetic inductive principle and its integration in a robotic actuator.
More specifically, you will:
Contribute to the design of the transducer, supporting the design choices with a thorough literature review and analysis. Drive the design based on the robotic integration requirements.
Assembly a prototype on a test-bench and design of the experiments.
Execute the campaign of experiments.
Your profile
Interest for mechatronics and sensors technology for robotics. Hands-on prototyping attitude.
Basic knowledge in physics, in particular electromagnetism (e.g. principles of magnetic induction). Experience with a simulation environment a plus (COMSOL Multiphysics).
Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, experience with CAD tools (Solidworks, Creo) is favourable.
Good understanding of sensing and control principles, implementation of torque control schemes, impedance control is a plus.
Capability to acquire, organize and process methodically measurements data (Python, MATLAB), provide analysis and reports.
At ease with the manipulation of laboratory equipment, such as oscilloscopes, generators, 3D printer.
Curious and with a can-do spirit.
