Melexis becomes a direct supplier to BYD, deepening global EV collaboration
Tessenderlo-Ham, Belgium, 25 August 2026 – Melexis, a global microelectronics engineering company, signed a Master Purchase Agreement (MPA) with BYD, a leading OEM. This milestone elevates Melexis to a direct supplier within BYD’s global procurement ecosystem, formalizing and deepening a long-standing collaboration to drive the next generation of electric vehicles (EVs).

A collaboration built on mutual value
The transition to a direct supplier framework establishes a highly efficient, streamlined relationship that delivers significant benefits to both market leaders:
- For BYD: The agreement secures direct access to Melexis’ advanced portfolio of semiconductor solutions. This portfolio spans sensors and drivers supporting automotive powertrain, thermal management, lighting, braking, steering and battery-related applications, alongside dedicated industrial and robotics solutions.
- For Melexis: This direct alignment with a global leader in new energy vehicles (NEVs) solidifies Melexis' strategic footprint in China, the world's most dynamic hub for automotive innovation. It allows Melexis to align its technology roadmap closely with BYD’s future platforms, ensuring long-term growth and high-volume demand.
By establishing direct purchasing and supply processes, the MPA optimizes operational efficiency, minimizes supply chain complexity, and provides the agility needed to rapidly scale next-generation EV technologies.
“BYD continues to set the global pace for scale and innovation in electrified mobility,” said Dieter Verstreken, VP China Strategy at Melexis. “Transitioning to a direct supplier relationship is a natural evolution of our multi-year collaboration. It allows our engineering teams to collaborate more closely, ensuring our high-performance semiconductor solutions directly support BYD’s mission to deliver safer, more efficient, and smarter vehicles.”
The agreement aligns with Melexis’ long-term strategy to strengthen its position with leading automotive manufacturers worldwide and expand its presence in key electrification applications.
