The MLX80124 is a code-free variant of the MLX81124 IC, serving as a fully integrated low-end LIN responder for automotive ambient lighting applications. It enables engineers to drive RGB LEDs via the LIN bus, offering the full lighting functionality. Its key advantage is that it allows configuration and behavior setting via a GUI, eliminating the need to write or compile any code.

As a code-free LIN RGB ambient light controller, the MLX80124 features high-voltage output drivers, each offering freely configurable current sources up to 60 mA – supporting RGB ambient lighting configurations. Developed using advanced BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) technology, it is housed in a compact SOIC-8 (with exposed pad) package and features pin-to-pin compatibility with other Melexis drivers such as the MLX81124 or MLX81123.

The device integrates a full suite of diagnostic features, including open/short detection and supply monitoring. It delivers precise, LED-agnostic RGB color mixing with temperature compensation – engineers simply input the correct optical data for their chosen LED.

With a working temperature range from -40 °C to +125 °C, fully qualified to AEC-Q100, and compliant with ISO 26262 up to ASIL B, the MLX80124 ensures robust performance for automotive-grade ambient lighting systems, all without requiring software development.
