The MLX91224 (5 V supply) and MLX91225 (3.3 V supply) form a versatile, plug-and-play isolated current sensing platform engineered for demanding automotive electrification and industrial power systems.
By integrating the low-impedance primary conductor, Hall sensing elements, signal conditioning, and galvanic isolation into a standard SOIC footprint, the devices eliminate Ohmic loss issues, bulky external magnetic cores, and complex end-of-line calibration.
Developed as an ISO 26262 ASIL B Safety Element out of Context (SEooC), this platform significantly simplifies functional safety integration in high-voltage powertrains and safety-critical motor drives. The dual differential Hall sensing architecture provides exceptional stray magnetic field immunity, a fast 400 kHz bandwidth, and a 2 µs response time.
DE Package (SOIC6FL - Up to 50 ARMS)
The DE package is a ultra-compact SOIC6FL format optimized for space-constrained and cost-efficient designs. It supports continuous primary current measurements up to 50 ARMS with an integrated lead frame resistance of just 0.6 mΩ. The package delivers basic isolation up to 840 VRMS (420 VRMS reinforced) and includes internal overcurrent detection (OCD).
DG Package (SOIC16W - Up to 50 ARMS with Extended Creepage/Clearance)
The DG package comes in a standard SOIC16W wide-body footprint designed for elevated isolation requirements. Supporting continuous currents up to 50 ARMS with 0.7 mΩ lead frame resistance, its 8 mm creepage and clearance distances enable higher working voltages up to 1600 VRMS (basic) and 800 VRMS (reinforced). The DG variant provides dual OCD capability, allowing external threshold adjustments via the dedicated OCD-TH pin.
DH Package (SOIC12W FL - Up to 100 ARMS High Power & Surge Protection)
The DH package is a high-power SOIC12W FL format that extends the platform's continuous current measurement capability up to 100 ARMS. Featuring an ultra-low lead frame resistance of 0.21 mΩ and working voltage isolation up to 1640 VRMS, it delivers industry-leading surge current robustness up to ±29 kA (IEC 61000-4-5 / IEC 61643). It also features dual OCD monitoring with flexible internal or external threshold settings.

The second generation of isolated integrated current sensors MLX91220 (5 V) and MLX91221 (3.3 V) are Hall-effect based current sensors that are qualified for use in a range of automotive and industrial applications, such as on-board chargers (OBC), DC/DC converters, power supplies, and small electric drives. With 300 kHz bandwidth, they suit a variety of power conversion applications lower than 50 A RMS.
