Your future job

As an Patent Engineer/IP Business Partner you will take part in patent creation, patent prosecution, competitive intelligence, portfolio management and the product development process.

More specifically, you will:

• Patent Creation:
  Provide support to the inventor in the invention disclosure process and manage the patent drafting and filing process with the outside attorney to assure high quality patent filing
• Patent Prosecution:
  Assure proper handling of all stages of the patent prosecution process for national filing decisions, annuities decision, office actions and oppositions.
• Competitive Intelligence:
  Conduct continuous monitoring of the external patent landscape and technology trends in close cooperation with BU stakeholders, identify and assess threats and opportunities and initiate appropriate legal action if needed.
• Portfolio Management:
  Translate product and product line strategies into patent strategies aiming to identify technologies and applications to protect and take adapted IP rights protection initiatives;
  
  Develop and manage the patent portfolios for respective product lines including the evaluation of existing patents and the identification of threats and opportunities.
• Product Development Process:
  Lead the IP specific actions related to the different IP gates in the product development process.
  
  
  

Your profile

• You hold a Master’s Degree in physics, electronics, engineering or similar and relevant experience of 5 years (e.g. technical R&D or technical project management, technical or physics  PhD) or equivalent, combined with a genuine interest in protecting creative ideas by intellectual property rights.
• Experience in generating, analyzing, defending or managing IP rights is a strong advantage.
• You possess excellent verbal and written level in English and are able to negotiate/moderate frequently opposing interests in an elegant way.
