MLX90297

The MLX90297 is a one-chip fan driver designed in mixed signal CMOS technology for driving single-coil brushless DC motors. The motor speed can be controlled in a high efficient way through PWM switching of the output half-bridge drivers. The speed control is done through a PWM input signal. The speed curve can be configured by tuning an external resistor.

All-in-one

The device integrates in a single package: voltage regulator, Hall sensor with advanced offset cancellation system and power output H-bridge, all controlled by a sophisticated digital state machine.

Robust operation and high quality

The MLX90297 is AEC-Q100 qualified. It features 9 kV HBM electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, state of the art electrical overstress (EOS) protection and current limiting protection on the FG/RD output, as well as on the power output drivers. This fan driver has been developed, and is produced according to high quality automotive standards. Thanks to its high integration and straight leads package it offers the best bill of material (BOM) cost in the market for fan drivers up to 600 mA. It also features soft start and an improved soft switching method for lowest acoustic noise.

Package

The MLX90297 is available in an 8-pin SOIC8 package with straight leads. This package allows single layer PCB design and fit the sensor in close proximity of the rotor. For very high current applications, or very small PCB applications, also a DFN10 3*3mm package option is available. Melexis packages are respectful of the environment and fully green compliant including notably RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances), lead-free (Pb-Free) and halogen-free compliances.
